The boys came home Christmas Eve from visiting their Grandparents and we had a big surprise for them, our newest addition to the family. She was a 3 month old kitten and Hayden named her Noel. We had a white Christmas this year since two storms blew in within five days before. Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year!!

Our visit with Santa is always a hit. The boys both asked Santa for the ONE gift they really want. This Santa is the best I have seen and we have been going to this famous guy for the past three years. Once you find the perfect Santa it is really hard to go to the mall Santa.

Ian played soccer for the Pride Soccer Club U7. It is simply amazing what a year makes. Ian has become quite the little athlete. He is competitive and motivated to become the best soccer player in Colorado Springs. We also signed him up for competitive goalie training every Friday night. It was so cold but he was determined to learn as much as you could. We are so proud of our little guy!

The 3rd and 4th graders had their presentations tonight during Paragon. The 3rd graders learned about India and performed a little dance routine. Hayden was so cute! We also were able to visit the boys' classrooms to see what they have been working on. Ian and his friend Lindsey showed off their hand-made cave. It was very cool!!

Feed My Starving Children

Did you know that 18,000 children die a day from starvation? This is scary but a true statistic. We volunteered to pack food that would help feed children in need of food. Our church made 101,088 meals in one weekend and we were so blessed to be part of it. This was a very valuable experience for the boys to help others and to appreciate the little things in life, like food.

On June 14, my babies flew by themselves for the first time. They went to California to stay with their grandparents for three weeks. Most people would welcome a house free of children but this has been really hard for us. The house is extremely quiet and my routine is all messed up. We are counting down the days until we see them...15 days until I get to squeeze them.

Last month my work had "Bring Your Child to Work Day". Hayden was so excited to go to work with me and see what I do all day. It was a fun day full of activities. He had his own work badge that he was required to wear for security. Which made him feel very important! Since I work in a call center, Hayden was able to wear a headset and talk on the phone. He asks on a regular basis when he can start working for real. I explained to him that he is too young to be a New Hire.

Our little man graduated from Kindergarten today, June 8th 2011. We had a breakfast with his classmates, signing yearbooks, graduation ceremony, and lots of hugs. Ian has so many friends, especially girlfriends. Ian is considered the class clown since he likes to make everybody laugh. He rapped up the year with successfully earning the highest scores in each subject. We are so proud of our little graduate.

Paragon night is a night where all the kids have a chance to show what they have learned for the last quarter. The kindergarten classes presented their studies of Australia. We had a wonderful Christmas spending time together. This is the best time of the year! The only thing that would have made Christmas more perfect would have been snow. No snow yet. The boys received boxes and boxes of Legos. I will be putting ships, speeders, and castles together for most of the weekend. This year is another Star Wars hit and little bit of Harry Potter. Hayden loves the mystery of magic and the adventures (little or not so little) Harry Potter encounters. It is amazing to see in just one little year how much the boys have grown. We are truly blessed to have a happy and healthy family. We want to wish all our family and friends a wonderful Christmas and hope the New Year brings a new beginning to the next chapter of our lives. Miss and love you all!!

We had a relaxing vacation visiting our entire family in California. We drove straight through the night (19 hours driving). We were exhausted but it was worth seeing our family. Hayden's Sleepover

We let Hayden have an early birthday celebration and have his first sleepover. He was so excited! There were seven boys for most of the day and then five boys sleeping in the family room. Falcon Fire Station Grand Opening

We went to the Grand Opening of the new Falcon Fire Station #1. The station is located about 2 miles from our house. It was great to see the inside of the station in its entirety. We had a tour through the kitchen, entertainment room, training rooms, gym, and the bunks. We talked to the firemen about the trucks and what a typical day would be like. Hayden and Ian were in ahhhh!

We had a great day of boarding at A-Basin today. Hayden and Ian are really taking an interest in learning how to turn and stop. Ian still was scared to ride the lift so Pete did most of the hiking with him. Hayden had much more confidence on the lift this time. Practice makes perfect is what I always say.

Ready for the Pinewood Derby

Every year each Cub Scout makes their own pinewood car and participates in the Pinewood Derby. Hayden and his buddy Mason designed their trucks. Mason's dad cut the pinewood blocks with his snazzy saw and the boys then sanded, painted, and tested out their trucks. It was so much fun to watch them. They are ready for the derby which will take place in a couple of weeks.

At the beginning of the school year Pete signed up to be part of the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) program. He volunteers once a month to work in different classrooms and be a father role to students. Hayden is so proud to have Pete participate in the school activites. Ian has even asked if he would come to his preschool for a day. Too Cute!

The Legendary A-Basin, Colorado

We took the boys snowboarding for the first time this season. It was a great day with 35 degrees and no wind. Hayden and I stayed on the bunny hill so he could get used to controlling his board. I had to hike up the hill for Ian since he was too scared to go on the lift. We had a great time! I am hoping to get up there in the next couple of weeks so Hayden can get more practice. Next time I will bring the little camera to get some action shots.

New Year's Eve

Another year has ended. It seems like every year goes by faster and faster and I feel like I can hardly catch my breath. I am so thankful that we are all healthy and happy. The boys are growing up so fast. I have decided to not do the traditional New Year's Resolutions this year. Instead I think that it is best to reflect on our accomplishments over the past year. That way we never feel like we let ourselves down.

Pete is proud that he has completed 5,638 laps (102 miles)in the pool.
Kelly finally has a good workout routine and started to scrap baby albums.
Hayden is doing great with his reading, spelling, and math. He is more active in the community with the Cub Scouts.
Ian has found confidence in his school. He is excelling in his Pre-K with writing.

Christmas Day

Christmas day is finally here. Hayden and Ian were so excited to open all their presents. I posted alot of pictures this year because their faces crack me up. I LOVE seeing their eyes light up when they get that gift they asked Santa to bring. It is priceless. I love Christmas! It is my favorite holiday of the whole year. We want to wish all of our friends and family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Yes, I said it "Christmas" no happy holidays here.

We went to our church for the Christmas Eve service. They put on a special performance called "Winter Wonderland". Included real ice skating, caroling, candlelit visual, and a performance of the birth of baby Jesus. It was absolutely wonderful and the kids loved it. They would not allow any pictures during the performance so I took what I could before the show started.

Winter Basketball 2009

Hayden has played soccer since he was 3 years old. He never wanted to do any other sports but this year he has decided that he wants to do everything. He asked if he could try out for basketball so we signed him up. He practiced so much because he was determined to "make the basket". He has always been one of the best players with soccer. However, basketball was harder for him but he was determined to do well. He made his first basket during the 4th game. We are so proud of him!

We were invited to a birthday party at the ice rink. Hayden and Ian were both really excited to ice skate for the first time. They had these home depot buckets for the kids to lean on to keep their balance. It worked out really well since I myself had never been on the ice before. I was afraid both of them would pull me down. The buckets were really helpful, no falling down.

Our favorite time of the year is Christmas. I love decorating the house and shopping for everyone. This month we had some seriously low temps and a little snow. It is such a magical time when you have children in the house trying to wait up for Santa. Christmas brings back so many great childhood memories for me and my goal is make this Christmas the best day. Every year, I try to make new memories for my boys so they can remember Christmas as the best day of the year. Watching their faces gleam from excitement when they open their gifts is priceless. We went to Ian's preschool for Family Feast Night. Ian decorated his vest and headdress to look like an Indian. The kids sang songs like 10 Little Indians and The Turkey and the Straw. We then sat down for a Turkey dinner with his entire class. Ian has changed so much since last year. He is more confident and outgoing. He went up to his friends and just started talking to them. I am so proud of my boy!

We had a great time tonight. We went to our good friends house; the Zamora's. They had a Halloween party and we went trick or treating in the neighborhood. It was a cold day today with a high of 32 degrees. Even though it was cold, we had to go outside and enjoy the snow. The boys had a snowball fight and made snow angels. I cannot wait until we go up to the mountains for some snowboarding.Hayden is so proud of his first snowboard.After all it is still October.

We went to our favorite farm to pick some pumpkins and have a little fun. The boys loved petting the animals, duck race, going on the little choo choo, going down the largest hill slide, playing on tractor tires and climbing up the haystack. Fall Soccer 2009

We had a great season. Hayden loves playing soccer. He definately has athletic ability when it comes to sports. We are so proud of him! He never stops for breaks and his coach even recommends that he advance to the 7-8 year old team. He loves the game and never complains about the temperature. Most of the games were outdoors and the temp varied between 35-60 degrees. Last weekend was the only game we played indoors because the temp was 20 degrees. It was so cold.

Ian plays when he feels like it. He is so independent that he makes the final decision. When he plays he kicks butt. He is so fast and determined to make "a hundred" goals as he would say. I love this boy! He is so full of energy and he really is good when he wants to be.

Tiger Day is a day where Tiger Cubs can complete some electives to earn their Tiger badge. They learned how to mix primary colors to make other colors. They learned some magic tricks, tiger hand puppets and made music instruments. Hayden had so much fun riding the cubmobile. He is already planning how he wants to build his own for next season.

Yesterday was the last day of summer and the first day of winter here in Colorado. We had low tempts in the 30's and 40's and snow off and on all day. Here is a picture I took this morning at 6:30am. Since last winter was quite mild we are anxious for a good winter.

We went to Back to School Night last month and Hayden spotted the Cub Scouts table and asked me if he could "volunteer". It was the sweetest thing! We now have a Tiger Cub for the Boy Scouts of America. He is so proud! We had our first popcorn fundraiser today in front of Lowe's. I can hardly believe how mature my little man has become. He spoke to every person who came by and he said "Thank You" to everyone whether they bought or not.

A New Addition to the DaCosta Family

Our new family pet is a six week old bunny named Thumper. Ian loves her so much and he is so gentle. He wants to hold her all day. She is so adorable and loves attention.

Sky Sox Baseball

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox Baseball game was so much fun! Our first trip to a Minor League Baseball game and my only thought was why haven't we done this sooner. I am not one to watch any kind of sports on TV, but going to a game is a real treat. We sat in the lower level between 3rd and home base. Hayden danced to every song and entertained the whole section with his stellar moves. We cheered for the Sky Sox as loud as possible.
Salt Lake Bees beat Sky Sox 7-4.

SkateCity

We went to SkateCity this weekend. This was Ian's first time on skates. They both had a great time.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

We took the boys to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. This is a mountain zoo and it has some steep hills. The zoo has an elevation of 6,800 ft and you hike up approximately 120 feet from the parking lot to the Asian Highlands (same height as a 10-story building). The new Rocky Mountain Wild Exhibit was great!

First Day of 1st Grade

Today is Hayden's first day of 1st grade. We surpised him with a new Star Wars backpack. It is hard to believe that he is already in 1st grade. Where does the time go? He was so excited this morning that he got out of bed at 6:30am ready to go. He even brushed his teeth with his backpack on. I wish I took a picture of that. I was able to get a couple of quick pictures before school started.

First Day of Pre-K

Today is Ian's first day of Pre-K. He is going to the same school as last year. And we requested the same teachers too. Ian was so excited to start back at school.

Pete's 41st Birthday

Pete turned 41 today. He took the day off to spend some quality time with our boys. They went to see a movie this afternoon, G-Force. This was his idea. We went out to dinner and had some birthday cake to celebrate.

Flight 229

We went back to California to visit our family and friends. This is our fourth trip back to California since we moved to Colorado. It only takes 2 and 1/2 hours. Hayden and Ian love flying on the airplane. Hayden wanted to see the cockpit and meet the pilot. He was all smiles and loved every minute of it.

Monterey, California

During our trip to California, we went to Monterey and Carmel for a couple of days. The boys loved the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the new Sea Horse exhibit. We had fun playing on the beach and walking down Cannery Row. We had a great couple of days except when Ian dove off the hotel bed and hit his head on the nightstand. He had a bump (size of a golf ball) for nearly 3 days. He is fine, but he sure gave us a scare.The tempature was about 62 one day and 67 degrees the other day.We had fun spending the day at the Aquarium.Here is Hayden playing in the play area dressed up like a fish. Hayden was looking for seals. We loved the popcorn shrimp and bucket o' fries.Sailboats at Fisherman's Warf.

Hayden's 6th Birthday

Hayden turned six on July 6th. He is such a big boy now. We celebrated Hayden's birthday first with his friends with a pool party at our rec center. We had a Star Wars birthday with a pull-apart cupcake cake. We played a game "Help Restore Order to the Galaxy!". Hayden loved counting all the points and giving the winning team their prizes. We then went to California and Hayden had a birthday party at Nana's house. Nana had a Star Wars pull-apart cupcake cake too. Hayden loved playing with his cousins. And finally, we went to Grandma's house and Hayden had more birthday cake and had a great time playing with waterguns. Thanks to everyone who spent time with Hayden on his birthday. You made this year very special for him. This year cannot be beat!

4th of July Celebration

We went to California to visit our family and friends. We went to Pete's brother's house to celebrate the 4Th of July. We had a great time spending quality time with our family. We had a BBQ and 4Th of July treats. Hayden and Ian participated in fireworks for the first time. They loved the sparklers. It was great to have one-on-one time with the DaCosta family. Thank you Andrew and Tiffany for having us. We love you guys! Cousin Sage loves fireworks too.Ian and cousin Jade had fun playing with her dog, Soda Pop.We are home of the brave!

T-Ball Continues

Hayden has decided this year that he really likes T-Ball. His coach says he really has a talent when it comes to getting the ball. He charges for the ball every time as some other children back away from it. I guess it is time to take him to a professional game. He is really getting into sports and wants to try everything. As last year he only wanted to play soccer.Waiting to bat. Hayden loves catching the ball and throwing it to the bases.Ian played with Iley's sister, Landri.
